The Honorable Mark E. Windham, judge of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, will discuss preparation for law school, the lawyering experience, and the responsibilities and challenges of judging. The event will be held Friday, March 26, 12-1 PM. There will be opportunities for audience members to participate in question and answer portions of the program.
Judge Windham’s career includes civil litigation practice, nearly 20 years of experience in the LA County Public Defender’s Office, with a decade as the head public defender. He specialized in death penalty defense, including mastery of DNA and forensic evidence. He has been a Superior Court Judge presiding over criminal trials since his appointment to the bench in 2008.
Judge Windham is a Claremont McKenna College parent (P’ 25) and an extraordinarily accomplished debate coach, leading middle school students in the Debate Union’s Middle School Public Debate Program to the regional championship and high school teams to two top ten national rankings in the National Parliamentary Debate League. His experience in the law and as a debate coach and judge may be invaluable for those in high school debate required to investigate and argue sophisticated legal and constitutional matter.
