The US High School International Debate Championships will be held at Claremont McKenna College, Friday-Sunday, February 24-26, 2016.
The international competition will feature an optional instructional program on Friday, February 24. The tournaments will be held on Saturday and Sunday. The events will feature debating in the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) format and the World Parliamentary Debate (WPD) format. A team may register for either or both tournaments. There are awards for performances at each event.
The tournament is school-based. In other words, students participating in IPDP tournaments will only be permitted to compete with students from their own high schools; they may not enter as a multi-school team for the competition. Any international delegation is welcome to attend. Official country debate delegations may enter teams consisting of students in attendance at more than one institution. Students must be in secondary school; they may not have previously competed at a college/university tournament or as part of a college/university debate program in any competitive speech or debate event; they must register as a team from their high school (may not participate as part of an educational enrichment center or other non-school team, club, or association).
