Registration Cap

IMPORTANT – Entries will be accepted based on registration submission date/time. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, October 7, 6:00 PM. No cap on school registration at this time.

Required Judge Registration

Judges MUST complete certification prior to tournament judging. There is an expedited process for judges with prior experience from other debate formats. Prior participation in other debate formats does not suffice for PDP certification. Those new to judging complete certification during a tournament day and may judge at subsequent debate tournaments. They are not eligible to complete certification and judge at the same event.

The workshop includes a judge certification session.

Please ensure that your school has sufficient certified judging for entered teams (one judge for the full tournament covers 2 teams or portion thereof; this will be adjusted to one judge for each entered team for online tournaments). Individuals may not judge at a tournament at which they complete certification (exception for the expedited certification process for sufficiently experienced judges from other formats). Prospective judges complete certification at a tournament and then judge at subsequent debate tournaments.

Schools may register only those teams for which they have certified judges. In other words, if your school would like to register 4 teams, you must register 2 certified judges for an in-person event and 4 judges for an online event. Those judges must be available to judge all debates. If you would like your registered judges to have a free debate or two, you must register more of them.

If you are new to the HSPDP and do not have certified judges but would like to register teams, please contact the league presidents with this request.
