The 2019 High School Public Debate Program (HSPDP) Championship Tournament is scheduled for Sunday,April 28. The event will be held at the International School of Los Angeles, Burbank.
The pre-announced topics for the event include the following. They are NOT listed in round order.
- In the US, small states have too much power.
- The First Amendment should not protect disparaging or threatening trademarks.
- Soldiers should be able to opt out of specific conflicts for moral reasons.
Additional impromptu topics will be selected from current events and enduring ethical controversies.
There are team entry limits for the event. For east coast teams, please consult with Steve Fitzpatrick for school registration information. For those in the west, Katie Na and Maya Kurkhill will send bid allocations to each school by Monday, March 18. There may be opportunities for waitlisted teams to participate but there is no guarantee. Katie Na and Maya Kurkhill will take requests for waitlisted teams and any spaces will be allocated by lottery on or about April 1.

There is a team registration fee for the tournament. Information is included in the invitation. The invitation also includes championship team and judge registration guidelines. Please review.

Additional information, including official rules, judging guides, and rubrics will be available at ccduinvitations.com by Sunday, March 17.
IMPORTANT – The deadline for registration will be Monday, April 8, 6:00 PM. The following day, any unused bids will be re-allocated by lottery to waitlisted teams.
Schools may register only those teams for which they have certified judges.
