The IPDP is the Claremont Colleges Debate Union’s international debate outreach program for US high school students. IPDP students have successfully represented the US at competitions throughout Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. The majority of competitions use the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) format. Events are in English, although select competitions feature other language divisions (e.g., the Pan American Debating Championship offers debating in English, Spanish, and French).
High school students audition for IPDP participation each year. The majority of successful applicants audition during the Claremont Summer International Debate Workshop. The workshop is held on the Claremont McKenna College campus each June. The summer workshop gives students the opportunity to learn and practice the format for successful international debating; the workshop integrates multiple audition opportunities. The fall audition for new applicants opens on October 1.
